Winter, especially this wild and crazy weather winter, is a slower time for my family and business. I’ve been refreshed and revitalized, in terms of photography, with the break, giving me freedom to explore and push into new projects and learning. Most of the regained energy has been directed toward enjoying my own family and throwing the camera into the mix. Since I’m a tad, or more, of a ambition driven soul, I’ve been searching for a project with clear goals. I’ve seen various ideas, all awesome ones, from taking photos every day (so many 365 projects out there!), focusing on just one set a month, concentrating photos to a five minute span, or even as simple as making a point to get the kids out to the same spot each week to snap a shot. I’m not sure if I have a clear goal yet, but having the camera in the middle of my house has made me grab it at so many times during the day just because I have wanted to get the normal and real life instance to show our activities and interactions, laced with the funny little and messy details of our lives and house.
Regarding the photography produced, it’s a bit different from my normal love of color. I’ve always preferred color, which I think has prevented me from wanting photos of the normal everyday, since they are full of the weird color mixes that our eye easily conquers, but the camera just can’t get over. Black and white may be more of a staple of these photos, until our everyday lives once again are found outside.
