Adventure Session

Live abundantly during your next adventure and relive it in pictures

An Adventure Session begins by your choosing a favorite activity, traveling there with your favorite people, and embarking on that adventure, while I tag along to take all the photos I can to document your exciting time.

What do you get?

You will receive a flash drive with an unlimited amount of edited photos, plus 4×6 prints of each photo. The amount of photos will be determined by the length of the adventure.

How much will the session cost?

Pricing depends upon length of adventure and travel costs. See below for more details.

Adventure Session Investment Examples

To give you an idea of what your photography investment would be, I’ll give three different examples of an adventure session. All of these examples are not exactly what would happen. I am dreaming of different activities I would enjoy and giving a few details on what I think would be fun. This is just to get your creative juices going on some possibilities for your next adventure. Contact me to find out just how much your adventure will cost!

Example 1

Imagine you are a young family and love to spend 2 hours in the evening at the Benton County Fair. I will wander through the livestock areas with your family, capturing your kids’ expressions as they see the grunting pigs, bump into friends and catch up, pause at the snowcone stand to snack on a cold treat, and end with rides and your family’s favorite treat. I would estimate you’d receive around 100-150+ color file images on your flash drive, with 4×6 prints of each of those images. The total bill for my photography work would be $400. This bill only covers my photography work. Any extras that you would spend on your family (e.g. snowcones, fair rides, treats, fair adminission, etc.) would be your responsibility.

Example 2

Imagine you are a college student on the way to the beach with 7 of your friends. You’ll spend 3 hours at Ona Beach, just south of Newport, Oregon playing frisbee, walking the beaches, dunking in the Pacific Ocean, and ending with a bonfire and dinner over the fire. The adventure session is ideal to split between a group of friends, who would each be able to make their own copies of the file images from the flash drive. I would estimate your group would receive 150-225+ color file images on your flash drive, with one set of 4×6 prints of each of those images. The total bill for my photography work would be $600. This bill only covers my photography work. Any extras that you would spend as a group on your adventure (e.g. food, gas, etc.) would be your responsibility.

Example 3

Imagine your family and another love camping up at Waldo Lake. One full day of an Adventure Session would capture your family and friends as you enjoy the wilderness during your camping trip. The photos throughout the day would include the outdoor activities you enjoy, like paddleboarding, cooking lunch, swimming in the lake with your family, friends, and dogs, hiking to your favorite viewpoint of the lake, and cooking dinner in camp . I would estimate your group would receive 400-600+ images on your flash drive, with one set of 4×6 prints of each of those images. The total bill for my photography work would be $1570. This bill only covers my photography work and my included travel costs. Any extras that you would spend as a group on your adventure (e.g. food, gas, campground fees, etc.) would be your responsibility.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why would I want to do this type of photo session?

If you’re looking at this website, you like photos. This is your opportunity to be a part of the fun, be present in your adventure, and be in the pictures too!

Who is this type of photography for?

Anyone! Families, groups of friends, individuals, sports teams, business groups, etc.

How many people can participate in the adventure?

There is no limit to the amount of participants. In fact, for some groups (e.g. groups of friends, work groups on team building trips, families, etc.) it makes sense to pool money together and receive the photos as a group. One thing to keep in mind is that when the group is smaller, each person will most likely be in more of the photos, versus if the group is larger, the times each person is in a photo will be less.

Where can we do the adventure session?

That is determined by you! If travel is needed, my travel costs are built into my quote for your adventure. I travel up to an hour away from Corvallis, Oregon with no extra fees.

Is there a time limit?

No! If your adventure is a day, that’s great! If it’s multiple days and my schedule allows, sign me up!

Does the Adventure Session have a minimum amount of time?

Yes, but it slightly varies, depending on the location. If the session is super close to Corvallis, there is a 2 hour minimum. If it’s up to an hour away, there is a 3 hour minimum. The distance away from the Willamette Valley will determine this minimum. Chat with me to get the exact answer for your adventure.

What kind of things can we do on adventures?

I am not Superwoman, but I am experienced in many outdoor skills. There are a few situations that I am unable to do (e.g. underwater photography, intensely high mountain climbing), mainly because those activities would require special camera gear. Adventures that I would consider perfect for this type of session are hiking, paddle boarding, kayaking, skiing, sledding, backpacking, rafting, bbqing in the backyard, going to the fair, or camping.  This list is not complete by any means, so talk to me if you have any different ideas!

If it’s an overnight adventure, are there extra fees?

The only extras, beyond my session fees, are determined by travel and lodging. I build these costs into my quotes. We can cover those details when we talk about your multi-day adventure plans.

Do you do anything with the photos once you take them, or do you just put them on a flash drive?

I curate the group of photos that best shows the adventure. What this really means is that I look at the hundreds or thousands of photos that I take and pick out all the ones that are good (clear and not extremely redundant). Once I’ve picked that group, I edit each one of those photos, put the files onto the flash drive for you to use, and print out one 4×6 photo of each of those files.

Why do you say unlimited pictures, but then also mention the number is determined by the length of adventure?

What I mean is I’m going to be taking as many great pictures as I can. I don’t want to limit the photos that I catch. But at the same time, I know it’s physically impossible to get 5000 pictures an hour. I like to put an educated guess (see the examples of three adventures above on how many I hope to get) on how many photos I can guarantee that I’ll get for you. My goal is to always shoot for the stars!
