My goal for portraits, most of the time, is to nail the focus right on the eyes of my subject. Of course, there are many other things that I’m looking for too, like what the background looks like, what the light is doing, and relating with the client to catch a natural image that really represents who he/she is. Hmmm, now that I write all that down, there seems to be soooo much to focus on that some things can go overlooked.
For this particular photo, I am very happy with the results of focusing on all those things. Yet, there was one tiny little thing that I didn’t see when I took this shot.
Next time I think I’ll take a look down on the ground where I’ll be laying down, because I’m sure to be focused on figuring out if there’s poison oak there or not.
