Here is one of my favorite senior pictures. I took it recently and there is a little story behind it…..
I’ve read plenty of compliments given to this young lady for this photo on facebook. She looks great! I’m going to let you in a on a little secret and give you the photo before any editing took place. I think it’ll make it clear on why this photo turned out so well.
The background color, lighting, and funky crop makes the photo interesting enough to keep your eyes moving across the picture. What really tells the story is her engaging expression. Take a look below and see just what’s going on at that exact moment.
Yes, she’s being attacked by the umbrella! My first reaction was excitement because I am always looking for a great expression and this was IT. I was bummed though since my equipment was flying around the picture. After ruminating on the photo for awhile I saw a way save the pic. With a little touch of magic and dumb luck I found a pic I love.
The point that I’m hoping to emphasize beyond just some quirky storytelling details is that I think many really good pictures are caught during the transitions between shots. I love to interact and learn about people which help make each shoot fun and lets me see beyond the “posed smile”. It’s really a win-win situation because you get great photos and we both have a great time.
